Alfonzo DennardFOXBORO, Mass. — There’s a reason the New England Patriots signed a cornerback and a safety off their practice squad this week.

Cornerback Alfonzo Dennard and safety Devin McCourty are inactive for the Patriots’ Sunday game against the Buffalo Bills at Gillette Stadium. New England promoted cornerback Justin Green and Kanorris Davis on Saturday.

Guard Chris Barker, defensive end Jake Bequette, wide receiver Josh Boyce, linebacker Steve Beauharnais and defensive tackle Isaac Sopoaga round out the inactives. That means wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins, left tackle Nate Solder and linebacker Dane Fletcher will return to the field for the Patriots.

Tight end D.J. Williams is active for his second game for New England. He has not been targeted yet by quarterback Tom Brady.
