Andre Drummond Writes Sandy Hook Victims’ Names on Sneakers, Will Donate Game Jersey to School (Photos)

One year after the tragic events at Sandy Hook Elementary, one of Connecticut’s rising basketball stars did his part to honor those who lost their lives.

Pistons center Andre Drummond attended both high school and college in the state, starring at UConn for a year before leaving for the NBA. On Sunday, a day after the one-year anniversary of the shooting in Newtown, Drummond took the floor in Portland with the names of all 26 victims written on his sneakers.

The former Huskies standout also announced on Twitter that he will be donating his jersey from the game — an overtime loss to the Western Conference-leading Trail Blazers — to the school.
