andre williamsAndre Williams‘ shoulder injury may have cost him a shot at the Heisman Trophy, but it shouldn’t prevent him from enjoying Boston College’s return to bowl season.

BC head coach Steve Addazio told the Boston Herald on Monday that he expects to have Williams, who suffered the injury in the third quarter of Saturday’s loss to Syracuse, back on the lineup for the team’s first bowl game since 2010.

“Obviously he had to have X-rays and different things to see the severity of the shoulder injury which occurred very early in the game,” Addazio said. “It was just an extension of what he had and unfortunately he took a shot right on that spot and then a few more. … I’m sure he’ll be ready to roll by the time we play a bowl game but we don’t know exactly how long that will be.”

The senior running back has been the ultimate workhorse for the Eagles this season, leading all FBS rushers with an ACC-record 2,102 yards and 17 touchdowns. Williams was bottled up against the Orange, however, posting season lows in carries (nine) and rushing yards (29), though he did score one touchdown in the 34-31 loss.

BC finished the regular season bowl-eligible at 7-5 after posting a losing record each of the last two years.
