varlamovColorado Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov‘s assault charges stemming from an alleged incident between him and his girlfriend in October have been dropped, according to News 9 in Denver.

According to the report, “the case was dismissed because prosecutors say they could not prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.”

The 25-year-old goalie was arrested on Oct. 30 after an alleged domestic violence incident with his girlfriend Evgenia Vavrinyuk. Denver County prosecutors didn’t formally charge Varlamov until Nov. 22.

The 25-year-old goaltender has played well for the Avalanche this season, earning a 16-8-1 record with a 2.37 GAA and a .924 save percentage. Based on his performance this season, Varlamov will likely be one of the goalies on Russia’s Olympic team in Sochi.
