Zoltan MeskoFormer New England Patriots punter Zoltan Mesko has signed with the Cincinnati Bengals, the team announced on Tuesday.

The Bengals made the roster move in advance of Sunday’s wild-card game against the San Diego Chargers.

To make room for Mesko, the team released punter Shawn Powell, who had been filling in for Kevin Huber. Huber went down in Week 15 after suffering a season-ending injury.

After the Patriots drafted Mesko in 2010, he played three seasons in New England before signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2013. In seven games with Pittsburgh, Mesko averaged 42.5 yards on 34 punts, with a 36.7 net, three inside-20s and two touchbacks. The Steelers waived Mesko on Oct. 29.
