Blues’ Patrik Berglund Wipes Out, Falls on Face in Botched Slap Shot Attempt (Video)

Someone forgot to clean up the banana peels at the Scottrade Center.

As St. Louis’ Patrik Berglund wound up for a slap shot during a game against the Islanders on Thursday, the center lost his balance, causing him to miss the puck by a mile and leaving him with a mouth full of ice shavings. It’s been that kind of season for the sixth-year veteran, who has managed just one goal through his first 24 games.

Luckily for Berglund, though, his teammates have picked up the slack. The Blues, who routed the Isles 5-1, rank second in the NHL with a 3.4 goals-per-game average, and their 19-5-3 record ties them with Anaheim for third place in the loaded Western Conference.
