The World Junior Championships began on Thursday in Sweden, and Team USA started their gold-medal defense in fine form with an impressive 5-1 victory over the Czech Republic.
One of the players on the scoresheet was Boston Bruins prospect Matt Grzelcyk, who picked up an assist on Riley Barber‘s first-period goal that opened the scoring.
Grzelcyk was selected by the Bruins in the third round of the 2012 NHL draft. The 19-year-old defenseman currently plays for Boston University.
