With defenseman Dennis Seidenberg lost for the season, the Boston Bruins announced Monday that Kevan Miller has been recalled from Providence for a second stint with the big club.
Seidenberg, arguably the Bruins’ steadiest blueliner, tore his ACL and MCL in a 4-3 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. He will undergo season-ending surgery within the next few weeks.
The injury prompted Boston to call up Miller on an emergency basis just 12 days after the 26-year-old was sent back down to Providence. The defenseman has impressed in his nine games with the Bruins so far this season, tallying a goal and an assist while averaging 17:51 of ice time.
Miller also has totaled two goals and three assists in 19 games with the P-Bruins this season. The University of Vermont product will join the Boston Bruins for practice Monday and will be available to play when the team hosts the New York Islanders on New Year’s Eve.
