Former Celtics head coach Doc Rivers was met with a standing ovation on Wednesday night when he walked onto the parquet floor at TD Garden for the first time since leaving the team in June to join the Los Angeles Clippers.

After receiving another rousing ovation when the starting lineups and head coach were announced for the Clippers prior to tip-off, the Celtics honored Rivers with a video tribute on the Jumbotron at the end of the first quarter.

The video showed some of Rivers’ most memorable moments as Celtics coach, several of which occurred during the team’s run to a 17th NBA championship in the 2007-08 season. The video ended with a special message that read, “Thank You Doc!”
