Travis Zajac might never want to score a goal again after netting the most painful one of his career on Saturday night.
The New Jersey Devils forward scored the go-ahead goal with 6:57 remaining in the third period as he deflected a Marek Zidlicky slap shot off his face and into the back of the net. It was Zajac’s seventh goal of the season and one he probably won’t be forgetting anytime soon as he should be left with a heck of a reminder on the side of his head. Zajac, of course, returned to the game after using his head in a very literal sense.
If you’re going to take a puck to the face, you may as well get a goal out of it.
