Dougie Hamilton Out 2-4 Weeks With Lower-Body Injury, Daniel Paille Has Upper-Body Injury

The hits keep coming for the Bruins and that doesn’t mean “hits” in the sense that the Beatles had a lot of hits.

For the Bruins, the “hits” mean injuries, as the club’s opening night NHL roster has been decimated by injury this season, especially as of  late. The most recent blow was announced by Bruins head coach Claude Julien on Tuesday in Calgary.

According to Julien, defenseman Dougie Hamilton will be out 2-4 weeks with a lower-body injury. Hamilton, who suffered the injury Sunday night in Toronto and was done for the night after the first period, went back to Boston following the team’s win over the Maple Leafs. He didn’t travel with them to Calgary, and the diagnosis came down after Hamilton met with the team’s medical staff back in Boston.

Hamilton isn’t the only player the Bruins received bad news about on the injury front. Fourth-line winger Daniel Paille will miss the team’s game Tuesday night with what’s being tabbed as an upper-body injury. There’s no timetable for when Paille may return.

That means the Bruins will be without Hamilton, Paille, Loui Eriksson, Chris Kelly and Adam McQuaid on Tuesday as they’re all out with injuries. They’ll also be missing Shawn Thornton who is out indefinitely as he awaits a hearing with the league for his role in Saturday’s game against Pittsburgh.

There is some good news, though. Defenseman Johnny Boychuk is expected to return Tuesday after missing two games with a back injury.
