Jets’ Fake Punt Attempt Fails Miserably in Eventual Win Over Browns (Video)

The New York Jets’ entire season of ineptitude was summed up in one play Sunday afternoon.

Facing a fourth-and-9 from near midfield on their first drive of the game against the Browns, the Jets attempted to catch Cleveland off guard with a fake punt. The idea worked in theory, as gunner Isaiah Trufant was wide open on the left side of the formation, but the safety Josh Bush‘s pass was nowhere close, falling a full two yards short of the sliding Trufant.

The Browns kicked a field goal on the ensuing drive and led 10-0 late in the second quarter, but New York rallied back to win 24-13 and hand Cleveland its sixth consecutive loss. That won’t erase the image of Bush’s ugly excuse for a throw, though.
