Justin GreenWith a banged-up secondary, the New England Patriots brought in some depth at cornerback and safety.

The Patriots signed rookies safety Kanorris Davis and cornerback Justin Green to the 53-man roster off the practice squad. Both players have spent the entire season with New England. Davis has been active in two games, while Davis made his lone NFL appearance in Week 12 against the Broncos.

Davis and Green went undrafted in 2013. Davis, who went to Troy University, was initially signed by the Patriots with their first wave of undrafted free agents on May 3. Green was signed on July 21 out of the University of Illinois.

Starting safety Devin McCourty is unlikely to play after failing to practice this week with a concussion. Cornerbacks Alfonzo Dennard, Kyle Arrington and Aqib Talib are still nursing injuries.

To make room for Davis and Green, cornerback Marquice Cole was released on Thursday and wide receiver Austin Collie was cut on Friday. Earlier in the season, Cole had been released multiple times prior to games while he was recovering from an injury. Cole is not dealing with a known ailment at this time, but he might have gotten injured in practice.
