LeSean McCoy Messed With Eagles Teammates, Lied About Score of Cowboys-Packers Game During Flight Home

LeSean McCoyOn the flight home from Minnesota on Sunday, the entire Eagles team was interested in knowing how the division-rival Cowboys were doing against the Packers. However, the only guy on the plane with Internet capabilities was running back LeSean McCoy. And the NFL’s rushing leader decided, almost cruelly, to have a little fun with his teammates.

During the flight, general manager Howie Roseman and coach Chip Kelly were among the group of people incessantly asking about the score of the Cowboys-Packers game. While McCoy didn’t dare lie to his coach or GM, he did mess with his teammates enough to get them rattled.

“I said, ‘Yeah [Tony] Romo threw a 37-yard pass, touchdown.’ They’re like, ‘Really?’ I’m like ‘Nah, he threw a pick actually,’ McCoy said during a radio interview with CBS Philadelphia. “Because nobody knew except for me, so whatever I said they had to believe.”

The Cowboys ultimately did their best Cowboys impersonation and lost, giving up a 23-point halftime lead, allowing the Eagles to maintain sole possession of first place in the NFC East. The Eagles suffered their own loss against the Vikings on Sunday, feeling the sting of defeat for the first time in six weeks. Although, McCoy admitted that the Cowboys’ loss certainly helped to ease their pain.

“It definitely did [help our spirits]. It didn’t feel like a loss either,” McCoy said. “If you lose, you don’t want to talk.”

While the Eagles can take at least some solace in the Cowboys’ defeat, Philly is still just one game up on the ‘Boys in the division and will have to make one last trip to Dallas to settle the score, and the division, once and for all in Week 17.
