Lions Fans Receive Postseason Tickets From Team One Day After Detroit Is Eliminated From Playoffs (Photo)

The Detroit Lions’ loss to the New York Giants on Sunday came as quite a surprise, and some Lions fans found an even bigger surprise in their mailboxes on Monday.

A day after Detroit was mathematically eliminated from the postseason, a number of season ticket-holders got their playoff tickets in the mail. The team sent out playoff invoices back in November, when Detroit was 6-5 and tied for first place in the NFC North, and had already started filling late-season requests when there was still a glimmer of hope.

Things sort of went down the drain from there, though, as the Lions picked up just one more win after Week 12, and ultimately dropped Sunday’s crucial game to the Giants. Had they won, the Lions would have been back in first place in the NFC North since the Bears and Packers both lost their games. But, alas, Christmas in Detroit was ruined.

Money paid for the 2013 playoff tickets will be credited toward 2014 season ticket renewals, according to the Detroit Free Press.
