milan lucicBruins forward Milan Lucic doesn’t drop the gloves with the same regularity that he did when he was a younger player. When the big winger shed his mitts, though, it still means trouble for whoever is about to be on the receiving end of some menacing fists.

Lucic racked up 13 fighting majors in his rookie season of 2007-08, according to HockeyFights.com. His talents have developed since then, and he’s now at a point in his career where he’s better off on the ice than in the penalty box serving a major penalties. Every now and then, however, Lucic is challenged, and he’s usually more than willing to answer the bell.

That was the case Thursday night in Edmonton against the Oilers. Lucic found himself with no choice but to square off with Oilers tough guy Luke Gazdic early in the second period. The two heavyweights exchanged punch after punch in one of the best fights we’ve seen this season.

The throwdown was the latest reminder of how scary can be when Lucic decides he wants to punch another human in the face, and the Lucic-Gadzic bout was certainly one of the best of the Bruins forward’s career.
