Pierre Garcon Kicks Football Into Stands After Incompletion, Channels Redskins’ Frustration During Loss to Giants (GIF)

It’s been a long, long season for the Washington Redskins.

Last year’s darlings of the NFC now cannot seem to buy a victory, with Sunday night’s sloppy 24-17 loss to the Giants dropping the Redskins to 3-9 and eliminating them from playoff contention.

All that losing is taking a toll on wide receiver Pierre Garcon, who took out his frustration Sunday night by booting an incomplete pass into the seats at FedEx Field. The incompletion, which came on third down in a tie game, forced the Redskins to settle for a Kai Forbath field goal. New York responded by scoring the game’s final 10 points to seal the come-from-behind win.

“Losing is hard to deal with,” Garcon said after the game, per USA Today. “I’m disappointed we’re out of the playoffs. We play for the playoffs. It’s disappointing.”

Garcon is having the best statistical season of his career — he’s already surpassed his career high for receiving yards and is on pace to break Art Monk‘s team record for catches in a season — but the Washington offense as a whole under Robert Griffin III has been sluggish at best, ranking 19th in the league in points per game. That inability to put up points has shown in the standings, as Sunday’s loss assured the Skins of their fourth sub-.500 finish in the past five years.
