Reggie EvansCeltics guard Keith Bogans and Nets forward Reggie Evans are still buddies, even if they no longer wear the same team’s jersey. Throughout both teams’ surprising starts — Boston’s in a good way, Brooklyn’s not so much — they have exchanged texts and some friendly ribbing, Bogans told reporters Monday.

Whatever Bogans has texted, it’s probably not like the jab Evans took in the preseason. When the Nets visited TD Garden for an exhibition, Evans found some lemons in the visitor’s locker room, had his teammates sign them and sent the lemons across the hall to former Nets Bogans, Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries and MarShon Brooks, according to ESPN.com.

Evans’ joke, in case it’s too subtle: Life had handed his former co-workers lemons, figuratively. He was doing it literally.

Of course, the Celtics have made lemonade and the Nets are the ones with sour faces now. The Celtics entered Tuesday’s game against Brooklyn with the top spot in the Atlantic Division, while the Nets were a disappointing 6-14 and stood third-from-last in the entire Eastern Conference.

Maybe Bogans should send the Nets some eggs, since that’s what Evans has on his face.
