Those who put their money on a Patriots player blowing up the Internet in June were right, but it wasn’t Tim Tebow who did the trick. His teammate, Aaron Hernandez, is the one who owned Google this year.
Hernandez was the most-searched athlete on Google in 2013, Darren Rovell of ESPN reports.

Hernandez was coming off a 51-catch, 483-yard, five-touchdown season in the first year of a new five-year, $40 million contract extension when he was arrested on a first-degree murder charge in the death of Odin Lloyd. He’s since been tied to other cases, including a Boston double homicide and a Miami shooting, and is in jail while facing the various charges.
While much evidence has come to light that appears to implicate Hernandez, some legal experts have warned that the case against the former Patriots tight end is not airtight. Some even predict that he could return to football.
