The Dallas Cowboys will host the rival Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday with the winner claiming the NFC East title and a berth in the playoffs, but they will be without starting quarterback Tony Romo.
The veteran quarterback is going to have back surgery, which will keep him out for the rest of the 2013 NFL season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

At a press conference Monday afternoon, Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett wouldn’t confirm the reports of Romo being done for the year.

According to Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer, a herniated disc is what’s bothering Romo.

Kyle Orton is the only other quarterback on the Cowboys roster, and will likely start at quarterback in Week 17. He has attempted five passes this year with three completions for 40 yards. Romo started Dallas’ previous 15 games, and threw for 3,828 yards with 31 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
The Eagles have won six of their last seven games and will like their chances of keeping the Cowboys out of the playoffs with Romo unable to play.
