Alex RodriguezAlex Rodriguez apparently was intrigued by Manny Ramirez‘s production in the late 2000s.

Anthony Bosch, the former owner of the infamous Biogenesis clinic who also served as Major League Baseball’s chief witness against Rodriguez and others, revealed some interesting details about A-Rod’s alleged performance-enhancing drug use in a 60 Minutes interview that aired Sunday. One interesting nugget involved Bosch’s first encounter with Rodriguez, during which Ramirez’s name allegedly came up.

Bosch said that Rodriguez, upon meeting Bosch for the first time in 2010, immediately asked him what drugs he gave Ramirez that led to the slugger’s 2008 resurgence. Ramirez, who later got busted for PED use, hit .296 with 20 home runs and 88 RBIs in 133 games in 2007, and then hit .332 with 37 homers and 121 RBIs in 153 games in 2008. Ramirez was particularly impressive in the second half of 2008, hitting .396 with 17 homers and 53 RBIs in 53 games with the Dodgers following a July trade.

Ramirez was suspended for 50 games in 2009 for PED use. He was suspended for 100 games in 2011.

Bosch’s other revelations in the 60 Minutes interview included him saying he injected Rodriguez in a Miami nightclub and saying A-Rod used PEDs in the clubhouse before games.
