Aqib Talib, Alfonzo DennardFOXBORO, Mass. — Aqib Talib is focused on the postseason, but the New England Patriots cornerback was still excited to hear that he had made his first Pro Bowl.

Talib learned of the selection Friday night when New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick called him with the good news.

“I was just at home,” Talib said. “I think I was gonna go to the store or something and Bill called me, told me congratulations — first one to tell me.”

Talib didn’t throw any parties upon hearing about his achievement — he’s focused on more important things.

“I was excited,” Talib said. “Really couldn’t celebrate or nothing, know what I’m saying? Really is not the time to do it. I kind of worry about it after the season. After we’re done. Then I kind of enjoy that.”

Talib has had a fantastic season with the Patriots despite playing through an injured hip. He’ll be rewarded for his efforts with a new contract in 2014.
