Chris Johnson will be sticking around the NBA a little while longer.

The Boston Celtics announced Tuesday that they have re-signed Johnson, a 6-foot-6 guard/forward, to a second 10-day contract.

Johnson has played in four games for the injury-depleted Celtics since inking his first deal on Jan. 17, averaging 10.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. He scored a career-high 12 points Sunday in a loss to the Brooklyn Nets, the team that cut him during the preseason.

The NBA does not allow players to sign three consecutive 10-day contracts with the same team, meaning when Johnson’s second deal expires, the Celtics will need to either sign him through the end of the season or release him.

The Celtics visit the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.
