Gregory Campbell had a scoring chance just after the penalty exprired, but he couldn’t get his stick on a chance in front.

End third period, 2-2: We’re going to overtime. The Blackhawks will basically have a full two-minute power play to open the extra time.
Third period, 19:55, 2-2: Matt Bartkowski is going to the penalty box, and the Blackhawks have a crucial power play.
Bartkowski cross-checked Ben Smith from behind, an he’s off for two, which will likely carry over into overtime.
Third period, 18:00, 2-2: A good shift from the Bruins’ second line results in good possession time, but not much else. We’re down to the final moments.
Third period, 15:30, 2-2: The Blackhawks’ top line hemmed the Bruins’ fourth line in deep in the Boston zone, and that led to a chance for Jonathan Toews. The Chicago captain ripped a shot from the right slot, but Tuukka Rask was able to make the save before the B’s finally cleared the zone.
Third period, 12:00, 2-2: The Bruins were able to generate a couple of scoring chances on the power play, but they couldn’t find the back of the net.
The Chicago defense did a good job of clearing the space around Corey Crawford to make sure none of those scoring chances were too good.

Third period, 7:00, 2-2: Daniel Paille came this close to giving the Bruins the lead.
He appeared to beat Corey Crawford blocker side, but the puck ended up just catching a piece of Crawford and then going through the back of his jersey and just wide of the net.
Third period, 4:40, 2-2: Tuukka Rask just made an incredible glove save, as he flashed the leather on a Johnny Oduya wrist shot from the top of the slot.
Third period, 3:30, 2-2: The Blackhawks were able to kill off the penalty to Brent Seabrook. The Bruins struggled mightily with offensive zone entries, and that kind of slowed everything down, of course.
Third period, 1:24, 2-2: The Bruins get another power play.
Brent Seabrook slashed Brad Marchand, and the B’s are up a man for two minues.
Third period, 0:01, 2-2: The Bruins will be down a defenseman the rest of the game as the third period begins.

End second period, 2-2: Some anxious moments for the Bruins in the final seconds of the period after a rush spearheaded by Jonathan Toews, but the B’s escape the period with the game tied 2-2.
Second period, 19:00, 2-2: The Bruins successfully killed off the Matt Bartkowski penalty.
The B’s even had a couple of scoring chances after Brad Marchand pushed the puck up the ice. He’s had a really nice game today.
Second period, 16:17, 2-2: The Blackhawks are now going to get to give their power play a spin.
Matt Bartkowski was just called for holding after putting Patrick Kane in a bear hug and then throwing him to the ice. At least Bartkowski got his money’s worth.
Second period, 13:32, 2-2: The Bruins weren’t able to convert on the power play against the 29th-ranked penalty kill.
Second period, 11:32, 2-2: Now the Bruins are definitely going on the power play.
Brandon Saad was just called for hooking after taking down Carl Soderberg. It was a good penalty to take, as Soderberg had a pretty open look at the net.

Brandon Bollig just took a shot from a bad angle to Tuukka Rask’s left. The Bruins goalie looked to have had the angle, but the puck bounced off his pad and into the net. Rask didn’t do a good enough job of cutting down the empty space between he and the post.
Second period, 7:30, Bruins 2-1: This one is starting to get physical. Zdeno Chara just planted Brandon Saad with a big hit in the corner. We’ve already seen 28 combined hits almost midway through this game.
Second period, 6:13, Bruins 2-1: Correction: Jonathan Toews is serving a 10-minute misconduct penalty, but there is no power play for the Bruins.
Second period, 5:50, Bruins 2-1: The Bruins are going to get the first power play of the afternoon.
Jonathan Toews broke his stick and then threw into the crowd. That’s a penalty, and the B’s are up a man for two minuetes.
Second period, 0:50, Bruins 2-1: The Bruins are in front, thanks to Brad Marchand.
The Bruins winger just scored his second goal of the game, as he took full advantage of Chicago’s defensive breakdown in the neutral zone and finished with a gorgeous move. Marchand waited out Corey Crawford, and as soon as Crawford opened his pads, Marchand went five-hole to take the lead.
Second period, 0:01, 1-1: The second period is underway in Chicago.
first period, 1-1: The first period has come to an end, and it’s a good one so far. The game is all squared 1-1 after Brad Marchand’s goal late in the period.
First period, 19:41, 1-1: Brad Marchand is on quite a run right now.
The Bruins’ winger just potted his 13th goal of the season thanks to a strong play in the neutral zone. Marchand stole the puck at the red line and then got it to Patrice Bergeron. Marchand skated down the right wing where Bergeron found him with a backhand pass. Marchand ripped it by Corey Crawford, beating the goalie short side right inside the bar.
First period, 15:57, Blackhawks 1-0: The Bruins just had their best chance of the first period, thanks in large part to a fluky bounce. Regardless, Corey Crawford is preserving the lead.
The puck bounced into the Chicago zone, which is where Reilly Smith had gotten in front of the play and was the first to the puck, which put him all alone with Crawford. The Chicago goalie closed the pads and denied Smith’s attempt to go five-hole, and the 1-0 lead is maintained.
First period, 12:00, Blackhawks 1-0: The Bruins have started to even the ice a little bit as evidenced by a pair of scoring chances from Loiu Eriksson.
The defensive issues continue for the Bruins, though. Patrick Kane just burst through the neutral zone and into the Boston end before pulling off a gorgeous spin move around Matt Bartkowski. Kane pushed it across to Brandon Saad who tried to one-time it by Tuukka Rask, but the Boston goalie made a huge stick save to keep it a one-goal game.
First period, 8:36, Blackhawks 1-0: Plenty of defensive issues for the Bruins right now, who are really struggling with the Blackhawks’ speed through the neutral zone and into the attacking zone.
Chicago already has five shots on goal, thanks in large part to a handful of rushes that have picked apart the Bruins’ defensive corps so far.
First period, 4:13, Blackhawks 1-0: The Blackhawks strike first.
Marian Hossa made an incredible play hustling back into his own zone, back-checking and then eventually wrangling the puck from Zdeno Chara. Hossa then took off down the other way on what turned into a 2-on-1 with Patrick Sharp. Hossa passed it to Sharp and then skated back to the middle of the ice where Sharp put it on his stick and Hossa put it by Tuukka Rask.
First period, 0:01, 0-0: And we’re off. The game is underway.
12:25 p.m.: Bruins fans can exhale; Reilly Smith will be in the lineup.
A new roster report has been distributed, and the Bruins forward is in the lineup for the B’s against the Blackhawks. Jordan Caron will be the healthy scratch up front, and Dougie Hamilton remains out with a concussion.
12:20 p.m.: The pregame warmups are over in Chicago. Bruins forward Reilly Smith did participate in those warmups. However, he’s listed as a scratch on the official roster report.
12 p.m.: Pregame warmups in Chicago are underway, and the goalie matchup is no surprise. Tuukka Rask and Corey Crawford, who both got some very nice contract extensions this past summer, will get starts for their respective clubs.
9:30 a.m.: The Boston Bruins and the Chicago Blackhawks haven’t seen each other since late June when the Blackhawks hoisted the Stanley Cup on TD Garden ice. That will change Sunday afternoon in the Windy City.
That’s where the B’s and Hawks will be meeting for the first time since the 2013 Cup Final, which Chicago won in six games. That tremendous series came to a dramatic conclusion late in Game 6 when the Bruins saw a one-goal lead turn into the end of their season in just 17 seconds. While Sunday’s game won’t allow the B’s to make up for losing the Cup, it does give them another benchmark opportunity.
Chicago remains one of the best teams in hockey. While the Blackhawks have been scuffling some lately, they got one of their best wins of the seasons Friday night. Chicago clipped the Anaheim Ducks in a meeting of the Western Conference’s top two teams. Chicago is just 4-1-5 in its last 10 games, but they sit atop the Central Division through 50 games with 73 points. That’s thanks in large part to a 17-3-7 home record as United Center remains one of the toughest arenas to play in.
The Bruins, meanwhile, enter the Stanley Cup Final rematch on a bit of an uneven stretch. Boston is just 5-5-0 in its last 10 games, but they are coming off of a win in Dallas on Thursday night. Consistency has been the issue lately, but they’ll get a chance to build on that Dallas win against Chicago. The matchup with the Blackhawks is the beginning of a difficult back-to-back in which the Bruins will travel home on Monday to take on the Los Angeles Kings.
