The Boston Bruins have sent defenseman Zach Trotman down to Providence, ending the 23-year-old’s second one-game stint with the big club.
Trotman started in place of an injured Adam McQuaid on Monday, logging 13:19 of ice time in a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings.
It was the second call-up this season for the Michigan native — his first coming Dec. 28 against the Ottawa Senators — and Trotman told reporters after the game that his confidence was much higher this time around.
“I thought I had a pretty good game [in my NHL debut]. I got a little bit of confidence from it, so I feel willing and able to step in [Monday] and play my game,” Trotman said, via CSNNE.com. “You’re a little bit more decisive, a little more assertive when you’re confident in yourself. You know you can close on guys, make breakout passes. You don’t think as much.”
Trotman has four goals, seven assists and a team-best plus-13 rating through 32 games for the P-Bruins this season. His reassignment likely means that McQuaid, who missed Monday’s game with a leg injury, will be healthy enough to return by the time the Bruins visit the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.
