zach trotmanIt’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks for defenseman Zach Trotman.

The Boston Bruins recalled Trotman on an emergency basis Thursday, one day after assigning him to Providence. This is the third career NHL call-up for the 23-year-old, all of which have come in the last month.

Trotman played his second game for the Bruins on Monday, logging 13:19 of ice time in a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings. His recall hints that defenseman Adam McQuaid, who missed Monday’s game with a leg injury, might not be healthy enough to suit up when the Bruins visit the Philadelphia Flyers this Saturday.

Fellow blueliner Dougie Hamilton also was out of the lineup against the Kings, missing his fourth straight game with a concussion. Hamilton practiced Thursday for the first time since the injury.

Trotman has recorded four goals and seven assists in 32 games with the P-Bruins this season.
