Colorado Renaming 53 Tallest Mountains After Broncos Players

denver broncosAs a reward for reaching Super Bowl XLVIII, the state of Colorado is presenting each Denver Broncos player with his very own mountain.

No, seriously.

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper announced Wednesday that for Super Bowl Sunday only, the state’s 53 tallest peaks — known as the 14ers — will be renamed after Broncos players.

Colorado’s tallest mountain, Mt. Elbert, will take the name of quarterback Peyton Manning (obviously), while Mt. Massive will be renamed after defensive tackle Terrance “Pot Roast” Knighton. Mt. Sherman will become Mt. Wes Welker, a not-so-subtle jab at a certain Seattle Seahawks cornerback.

Not all 53 Broncos were such easy fits, though, leading to some (OK, a lot) of rather awkward comparisons and cringe-inducing puns. Click here to check out the entire list.
