Add Boston Red Sox catcher David Ross to the list of people skeptical of New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez‘s actions.
Rodriguez recently filed a lawsuit against Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association in an attempt to overturn his 162-game suspension. Ross questioned the move on WEEI’s Dennis & Callahan on Thursday.
“I’m definitely not happy with what A-Rod’s done and how he’s trying to, instead of looking in the mirror, he’s trying to point the finger at everybody else,” Ross said. “That’s not how I work. I’m the first one to say, ‘Hey, you know what? I’ve messed up,’ or when I make an error, I punch out, have a bad game, I’ll be the first one to tell you I stunk it up.
“I like guys that hold themselves accountable. Accountability is a huge thing for me. … I can’t comment on his personality, but definitely the way he’s coming off for me, it looks bad for the game.”
Rodriguez has been suspended for the entire 2014 season because of his link to performance-enhancing drugs. The slugger initially was suspended for 212 games following MLB’s Biogenesis investigation, but an arbitrator recently decided to reduce the suspension to the current 162-game ban.
