Boston Bruins defenseman Dougie Hamilton has been diagnosed with a mild concussion, ruling him out for Tuesday night’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Bruins coach Claude Julien called the concussion “mild” when speaking with reporters Tuesday and said Hamilton is not expected to miss significant time.
The 20-year-old blueliner, who missed practice Monday and Tuesday, had just recently returned from an MCL strain that sidelined him for 10 games in December. Hamilton has tallied a goal and two assists in five games since returning to the lineup.
Hamilton will not suit up Tuesday night, and his status is not yet known for the Bruins’ upcoming two-game road trip, which includes a date with the Dallas Stars on Thursday and a Stanley Cup rematch against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday.
Bruins centers Patrice Bergeron and Ryan Spooner also were absent from Tuesday’s practice, but both will be in the lineup against the Maple Leafs, according to Julien.
