The Frozen Fenway festivities are underway with Hockey East rivals going at it on the ice and Boston residents taking part in community sledding inside America’s most beloved ballpark.

Fenway was one of the first major league ballparks to take part in the NHL’s Winter Classic series in 2010, and the market for watching outdoor hockey was so great, the Red Sox decided to open up the stadium again. This time, hockey fans can catch high school hockey games along with Hockey East games inside Fenway. There is also a giant sledding hill built in the outfield that is open to the public.

The preparation for Frozen Fenway wasn’t easy, though, and the Boston Globe took an inside look at what it took to create the winter wonderland.

Check out the unique behind-the-scenes in the video below. The cool time-lapse stuff starts around 1:07.
