The Boston Bruins went into Philadelphia on Saturday for their first meeting against the Flyers this season and left town with an impressive 6-1 victory.
Flyers captain Claude Giroux — who scored the home team’s only goal — didn’t shy away from giving a harsh assessment of his team’s performance when speaking to reporters after the game.

The Original Six club scored two goals in each period, and four Bruins players finished with multi-point games, highlighted by veteran winger Jarome Iginla‘s two goals and two assists. The Bruins started the game with tremendous energy on each shift, and gave as close to a full 60-minute effort as they have all season. Philadelphia was unable to match them in any face of the contest.
The loss extended the Flyers’ losing streak to four games, which combined with the Columbus Blue Jackets’ eight-game winning streak, has put Philadelphia outside the three guaranteed playoff spots in the Metropolitan division.
The Flyers’ schedule doesn’t get any easier as the Winter Olympic break approaches. Four of their next five games are against teams currently in a playoff spot, including an incredibly difficult three-game road trip through California, where they’ll play the Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks.
