Tom Brady started from the bottom, now he’s here — headed to his eighth AFC Championship game in 13 years with the New England Patriots.

Brady hasn’t always been the star he is today, and during Saturday night’s playoff game against the Indianapolis Colts, he got back to his roots a little bit. After an injury to Patriots punter Ryan Allen, kicker Stephen Gostkowski stepped up to take over punting duties and Brady was placed on kick holding.

Gostkowski had never punted in an NFL game, and Brady hadn’t held a kick in years. It’s possible the quarterback’s only holding experience came when he was a backup in college, holding kicks for former Michigan University and Arizona Cardinals kicker Jay Feely. Feely shared a photo on Twitter of TB12 back when he was TB10 saying, “Brady holding on FG’s for Patriots!!! Last time I remember Brady holding was for me at Michigan.” Check it out below.

As the minutes wound down in the end of the fourth quarter Saturday, the Patriots elected to punt on fourth and 10 from the 26-yard line. With the Pats up 43-22, the points likely weren’t worth risking a Brady injury.
