Lin has bolted Nike to sign an endorsement deal with Adidas, the sneaker company announced Monday. Financial details were not included, but Adidas did say in a news release that Lin will be featured in upcoming “marketing initiatives” and “will play a role in the development of basketball footwear and apparel.”

“I’m really excited to join the adidas family,” Lin said in a statement. “They’ve changed the game with new technology and style, and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

Lin, 25, is averaging 14.1 points and 4.2 assists per game this season with the Houston Rockets. The undrafted Harvard graduate set the sports world afire for the New York Knicks in February 2012 with a two-month stretch of outstanding play that was dubbed “Linsanity.”

He signed a three-year, $25 million contract with the Rockets after that season.
