Phoenix Coyotes forward Lauri Korpikoski pulled the ol’ Charlie Brown on Zach Bogosian on Monday.
As the Winnipeg Jets defenseman barreled in to deliver a check a few feet from the side boards, Korpikoski released the puck and calmly sidestepped. Bogosian, who had already committed to the hit, was unable to pull up and instead careened headfirst into the boards in front of his own bench.
The dizzied D-man left the game briefly, but he later returned to log 24:00 of ice time in a 5-1 Jets rout. It was an ideal start to what Jets fans hope will be a new era in Winnipeg, as Monday’s game was the team’s first under new head coach Paul Maurice.
