There are certainly worse last names than “Girardi” to share in New York.

New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi and New York Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi do just fine sporting the same last name in the Big Apple and there seems to be some added benefits that come with having the surname in common. In December, the two came together in a promotional video the Rangers released to unveil their Stadium Series jerseys.

Although there was some confusion as to whose jersey was whose back then, it was by no mistake that Dan had a Yankees jersey waiting in his locker stall when he arrived at Yankee Stadium for the team’s practice Saturday.

The Yankees manager signed “To Dan, Sorry About The Mix-Up!” on the pinstriped jersey.
