Bryant, who will be 38 in 2016, told reporters before the Los Angeles Lakers’ Monday night game against the Bulls that he has no intention of playing in Rio de Janiero but would listen to what Thibodeau has to say out of respect.

The Black Mamba helped Team USA win two gold medals in 2008 and 2012, but the combination of age and injuries makes his decision to sit out the next Olympics not all that surprising. Bryant admitted that he would like to go watch the Olympics, though, giving Lakers teammate Pau Gasol a slight dig in the process.
