The Metrodome is one of America’s most famous sports stadiums, but with the Minnesota Vikings getting a brand new arena, it became time for the iconic building to be demolished.

The demolition will begin Monday, and the first step in that process was to deflate the roof, which was perhaps the most iconic feature of the stadium.

The Metrodome will always be a special place to Minnesota sports fans. The Twins won both of their World Series titles (1987 and 1991) on its grounds and the Vikings played host to many memorable NFL games. The stadium was also the site of Super Bowl XXVI between the Washington Redskins and Buffalo Bills.
