The Baltimore Orioles have signed former Boston Red Sox outfielder Quintin Berry to a minor-league contract, the club announced on Friday.

This move gives the Orioles more outfield depth, an upgrade to their defense and much-needed speed on the basepaths.
Baltimore lost its top base stealer from 2013 when Nate McLouth signed with the Washington Nationals in free agency this offseason. His 30 steals led the Orioles last year, and he was the only player on the team with more than 14 thefts. Berry has never been caught stealing in 29 career attempts at the Major League level. He was a perfect 3-for-3 stealing bases in Boston’s run to a World Series title back in October.
The 29-year-old left fielder has a career batting average of .268 with three home runs, 33 RBI and a .339 on-base percentage in 107 games.
