The New England Patriots haven’t hired new linebackers or tight ends coaches yet, but they do have a new defensive assistant.
The Patriots hired Brendan Daly as a defensive assistant coach Wednesday. Daly was the Minnesota Vikings’ defensive line coach in 2012 and 2013. Daly also worked with the St. Louis Rams as defensive line coach from 2009 to 2011. His first job in the NFL was with the Vikings as a defensive assistant/defensive line coach from 2006 to 2008.
The Patriots’ linebackers coach, Pepper Johnson, left the team last week. He has yet to find a new job in the NFL. Tight ends coach George Godsey left New England to serve as the Houston Texans’ quarterbacks coach under former Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien.
