Ja'Gared DavisFOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots have filled linebacker Brandon Spikes‘ roster spot.

The Patriots promoted practice squad linebacker Ja’Gared Davis to the 53-man roster. Davis had previously been signed to the active roster in Week 5 to play special teams, the only game he played this season.

Davis went undrafted out of SMU in 2013. He was initially signed by the Houston Texans before being waived Aug. 28. The Patriots claimed Davis, cut him after training camp and signed him to the practice squad, where he has played all season.

To fill Davis’ spot on the practice squad, the Patriots signed rookie wide receiver Reggie Dunn. Dunn was on the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad for the last week of the regular season. He previously had stints with the Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Dunn went undrafted out of Utah in 2013. He ran a 4.22-second 40-yard dash at his pro day. He practiced with the Patriots on Tuesday, wearing No. 84.
