With Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo’s potential return just around the corner, guard Jordan Crawford will be left without much of a role on the team. That means the Celtics could be giving Crawford up sooner rather than later.
Rumors about a trade for Crawford have already started to swirl, and Peter Vecsey reports that a number of teams have shown interest in him, although there are no details on who any of the teams would deal for the guard.

Crawford has had a career season with the Celtics, earning Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors in December, but has fallen short in the clutch of late. In a rebuilding year, trading away one of the team’s best assets for the right package makes sense, especially in light of the fact that the team will be getting its leader and point guard back in Rondo.
Crawford was originally drafted by the Nets in 2010, and his rights were immediately traded to Atlanta for those of Damion James and Tibor Pleiss. In 35 starts for the Celtics, Crawford is averaging 13.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 30.7 minutes per game.
Nets Daily points out that although Vecsey reports the Clippers are interested in a trade, under terms of an agreement between the commissioner’s office following the Clippers’ hiring of Doc Rivers, Boston and L.A. can’t make a trade this season.
