Lane Kiffin was fired by USC last fall after spending three-plus years as the Trojans’ head coach. It probably won’t take him very long to find a new job in college football.
His next position could be running the offense at SEC powerhouse Alabama as the team’s new offensive coordinator.

The offensive coordinator job became available when Doug Nussmeier accepted the same role with the Michigan Wolverines earlier in the week. Kiffin went 28-15 (17-12 in Pac-12) with the Trojans and was fired after the team’s fifth game of 2013. He also has served as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders and Tennessee.
The Crimson Tide finished the 2013 season with 38.2 points scored per game, which ranked 18th in the nation. They also ranked 49th in passing offense and had the 25th-ranked rushing attack.
One challenge for the next Alabama offensive coordinator is to find the best type of offense for the new quarterback. AJ McCarron finished his remarkable four-year college career in Tuscaloosa when the Crimson Tide lost to Oklahoma in this year’s Sugar Bowl and will be one of the many talented quarterbacks in the 2014 NFL draft.
