Report: Josh McDaniels ‘Possibly Back In Mix’ For Browns’ Head Coach Job

After offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said he “definitely” would be back with the Patriots in 2014, that might not be the case anymore. McDaniels is “possibly back in the mix” for the Cleveland Browns’ head-coaching job after having conversations with the team, according to Tony Grossi of ESPNCleveland.com.

Lineabackers coach Pepper Johnson left the Patriots on Tuesday, offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia retired on Wednesday and tight ends coach George Godsey will join Bill O’Brien‘s staff as the Houston Texans’ quarterbacks coach, according to ESPN.com.

McDaniels interviewed with the Browns during the Patriots’ playoff bye week.

UPDATE 11:59 p.m.: Ian Rapoport of NFL Network confirms McDaniels spoke to the Browns this week, but the Patriots coach is “not a viable option.”
