David SamsonThe Miami Marlins have finished in last place each of the last three seasons and haven’t made the postseason since their World Series run in 2003. But hey, baseball isn’t everything.

Marlins team president David Samson will be one of 18 contestants on the next season of CBS’ hit reality game show Survivor, according to WPLG-TV in Florida. The season reportedly was filmed in the Philippines last summer and will debut in February.

CBS has not made any official announcements regarding the upcoming season’s contestants and Samson reportedly couldn’t be reached for comment. The contestants are expected to be announced in a few weeks, though, at which point we’ll know whether Samson did indeed follow in the footsteps of former major league second baseman Jeff Kent and former Dolphins head coach Jimmy Johnson — each of whom previously competed on the show.

Samson apparently has a history of competing in endurance challenges. According to WPLG-TV, Samson competed in an Ironman competition in Hawaii and ran a grueling 52-mile double marathon for charity before tackling Survivor.
