New England Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio is reportedly a candidate for the Miami Dolphins’ vacant general manager position.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Friday that Caserio is in Miami interviewing for the Dolphins’ job, which opened up when the team parted ways with former GM Jeff Ireland earlier this month.
Update: The Dolphins later confirmed the meeting.

Caserio, 38, has been with the Patriots since 2001, working in a number of different positions before moving into his current role in 2008.
The Patriots have lost several members of their coaching staff since being eliminated by the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game last weekend. Offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia retired after 30 seasons in New England, and longtime linebackers coach Pepper Johnson also left the team, perhaps to join former Patriots coordinator Romeo Crennel in Houston, as some have speculated. Tight ends coach George Godsey is headed to Houston to coach the Texans’ quarterbacks.
Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, a former college teammate of Caserio’s at John Carroll University, was rumored as a candidate to fill the Cleveland Browns’ head coaching vacancy before the Browns hired Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Mike Pettine on Thursday.
The Dolphins finished 8-8 this season, missing the playoffs for the fifth consecutive year.
