Manchester United faces a massive test on Sunday when it travels to London to take on English Premier League rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and the Red Devils will be without their top two forwards with Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney unable to play because of injuries.

United won the Premier League last season, but it has struggled in 2013-14 under new manager David Moyes. The club has six losses through 21 games, one more than it had all of last season in 38 games.

The absence of Rooney and Van Persie, both of whom are world-class goal scorers and tremendous free-kick takers is a huge one for Moyes. Chelsea has allowed just 19 goals during league competition this season, which is tied with Everton and league-leaders Arsenal for the best defensive record. Moyes’ men have scored only two total goals in their four games against the Premier League’s top four teams (Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City) this season.

United currently sits in seventh place in the league standings, five points behind Liverpool in fourth place. If the Manchester club doesn’t finish in one of the top four spots, it will fail to reach the UEFA Champions League — Europe’s most prestigious club competition.
