Wes Welker Could Become Latest Ex-Patriot To Play Well Against Bill Belichick (Photos)

Welker Top 10Wes Welker‘s first matchup against his former team didn’t go so well — individually or for the Denver Broncos.

The ex-New England Patriots wide receiver caught four passes on eight targets for just 31 yards as the Broncos fell 34-31 in overtime in Week 12. A good performance from Welker in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game would go a long way toward the Broncos changing their fortunes in the postseason rematch.

Welker would be forging relatively new ground if he did that, though. Not many former Patriots have gone on to grand success — against their former team or otherwise.

Welker’s upcoming matchup against New England inspired us to come up with the top performances by a Bill Belichick castoff against the Patriots. Adam Vinatieri, Lawyer Milloy and Jabar Gaffney all had big games against the Patriots’ head coach, though that didn’t always lead to a win for their new teams.
