American figure skater Ashley Wagner blew past McKayla Maroney’s not-impressed face and dove right into the complete and utter disgust look during her Olympic debut.
The 22-year-old was all smiles after she completed her short program at Saturday’s team figure skating event, but her excitement quickly faded away when her scores were shown. Wagner joined her team, looking confident and ready to receive some high marks, but when her score of 63.10 flashed up on the screen, she couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
Wagner, who sparked some controversy when she was named to the Olympic team after failing to place in the top three at the national championships, discussed what prompted the honestly shocked face.
“I know what I’m capable of and what this program is capable of,” Wagner said in Sochi. “I don’t agree with the marks, but that’s what the individual event is for.”
