A barnburner of a junior hockey game Saturday night between the New England Stars and Cape Cod Islanders featured one of the prettiest non-shootout goals of the year, with 21-year-old Billerica, Mass., native Kyle Huckins doing the honors.

After retrieving the puck behind his own net, Huckins, a defenseman for the Stars, blazed down the center of the ice. The blueliner encountered no resistance until he was well into the Cape Cod zone, where he deked around one defender before sliding the puck between his own legs and flipping it over the shoulder of goalie Patrick Spaulding.

Huckins’ goal was the highlight of a whirlwind third period, during which the two squads lit the lamp a total of 10 times. The Stars scored the first four goals in the frame and added two more over the final 10 minutes to close out an 8-6 win.

Check out the highlights in the video below (fast-forward to 1:59 for Huckins’ goal), with a stick tap to Puck Daddy.
