Boston Bruins Recall Defenseman David Warsofsky From Providence

David WarsofskyThe Boston Bruins recalled defenseman David Warsofsky from Providence, the team announced Monday morning.

Warsofsky made his NHL debut against the Buffalo Sabres on Dec. 19, 2013 and scored his first NHL goal on Dec. 28, 2013 against the Ottawa Senators.

A former Boston University Terrier, Warsofsky has played in 176 games with the P-Bruins since 2010. He has recorded 23 assists this season and 63 assists total in his career with the AHL Bruins. The blueliner has also scored 11 goals and played in 12 AHL playoff games.

Warsofsky practiced with the Bruins on Monday and is expected to fill Zdeno Chara’s spot while he carries Slovakia’s flag at the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Olympics.
